Drupal Case Study

How is the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development Department Site using Drupal?

  • Content Editing with Moderation – While anyone in the department is free to edit or add content to the site, a series of roles and responsibilities have been set up to ensure that all content must be approved by the department’s director before it appears on the site. This allows all content to be reviewed within the department with the ability to roll-back to earlier versions of content as well.
  • Event Handling – The Center for Teaching and Faculty Development coordinates a number of events across campus. Using Drupal, the department can easily add in upcoming events that appear along the side bar of the side as well on a dedicated page just for events. Once the date for an event has passed, it is automatically archived so that visitors can see all the events coordinated by the department.
  • Development Opportunities – Part of the Center for Teaching and Faculty Development’s commitment to faculty at SF State is to highlight various development opportunities available both on and off campus. As new development opportunities arise, they are added to the site along with all the pertinent information for each opportunity. Since many of the opportunities are time based (either through due dates and deadlines or actual dates for events), the content is automatically removed when the time period has occurred.
  • Tagging - Content on the site can be tagged with multiple categories to connect various pages and sections together. All tags show up in a tag cloud to allow visitors the ability to explore all the categories on the site.
